MASTERCLASS THE BAR JACKET

MASTERCLASS COUTURE JACKET

INSPIRED BY DIOR AND BALENCIAGA

Nederlandse versie

The 1950s were a golden age for couture: new forms were invented that focused on the female form. Names like Dior, Balenciaga and Balmain set the tone.

One of the most striking innovations was a jacket that appeared in all collections:

A design with attached sleeve, strong shaped peplum to emphasize the slim waist.

This silhouet introduced by Christian Dior in 1947 still captures the imagination today.

In this masterclass you will make a jacket inspired by the Bar jacket and learn the couture secrets of that famous style.

Features of this jacket done in the master class include:

- the kimono sleeve, which drapes in the bias over the arm

- the peplum with interfacing to accentuate the hip

- working in bias cut to shape the jacket

In this master class we will go into  those secrets of the cut, to understand the technique and patterns and learn to make the jacket yourself.

Within this set up, you will learn to make your own variation in the details.

Couturier Leon Klaassen Bos gives this 5 day master class in his salon in Amsterdam.

Only suitable for tailors with experience.

Price 1195 euro ex vat.
